Scriptural Read: psalm 34
TOPIC:- IT TAKES BEING A SERVANT
TEXT: "But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:" Matthew 20:26-27
There are several people who want to lead others without first being servants to any. They fail to understand that fellowship must precede leadership.
This crop of individuals are everywhere. They do not serve but want others to serve them. This is prevalent in the world; it is the life style of the Gentiles and should be put to an end in the church. Jesus spelt it out in our text "But it shall not be so among you... but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister.Jesus lived out the exemplary life. His life was a life of service. He ministered to the people. He says we should learn to Him, He is meek and lowly. If we can have his kind of mentality and humble ourselves to service, the place of honour meant for each and every one of us cannot be missed. To try to scheme to positions of leadership or ordination, is ideal. Service is what takes you there. Every believer is called into service of God and to serve God you have to come under the leadership of the sent man ordained to lead the course for others to follow. In due season, your service will pay off.
PRAYER
O God, my father, as I pray now, may the spirit of stewardship overwhelm me by fire.
O God, my father, as I pray now, may the spirit of stewardship overwhelm me by fire.
