what has happened to the church? its a serious matter we all need to look in critically because today church has turn to something else.
Church is a place where people meet to worship God. People from all works of life meet to worship, thank and pray to God. It is the only ground people are supposed to come to terms that, there is a supreme being (God) that they have to offer their praises and honour to.but what we see today in the church is pastors fighting pastors,when they are suppose to be a major source of encouragement to each others.
Some school of thought also believe that, the church is our bodies. Our bodies are the temple of God. It is our bodies that God dwells in it.
The two definition given are true about the church but for this article, I would like to go with the two definitions.
Growing up, I saw the church of God differently from as at now that I am grown. Things have really changed.
Gone were the days that, the church of God would whole heartedly visit the sick regardless of the persons church. They were willing to help people develop. The church loved to win souls and also bless men who come to Christ financially broken. The church of Christ always wept when a brother was in trouble or backslided. They loved to pray and wait patiently for the miracles to come. They were content with whatever they were having. They loved to celebrate people. In fact, they lived for the future but not for themselves. Things have really changed in the church of God. Leadership was not based on money, education or influential person but the one God had chosen to serve in His ministry. The heart to serve and not to be served was among the church of God. People had the zeal to work for God regardless of their situation. The church was indeed more than a hospital. The fear of God was all over the church of God. People of God did not call themselves Christians but the world experienced their character and called them Christians. They gave a lot of time to reading the word of God and fellowshipping.but today church are giving more times to gossip and quarrelling what a pity

Ohhh! The Church had a major transforming power in society. The Ministers of God in the church were esteemed highly. You dare not speak against a man of God because he will not even do the evil for you to talk "shit" to him or her.
The opposite can be said of today. People of God are always moving from church to church, from revivals to revivals but our lives are not "beautiful and pleasing" before God. We move to Pastors who would give us all kinds of direction (Not Biblical). The Pastors insult even in church. They do not speak against sin but prosperity. They sell all kinds of anointing oil for people to get breakthroughs. We careless of the poor, the sick, those in the prisons and the aged. All that we say everyday is, they do not belong to my church. If I am a Presbyterian and she or he is a Methodist, he or she is not my church member. We help only our own. We do everything to prove a point. Christians of today sit at their various offices and even lie when they are writing the time they came to work. They steal all sort of things at work and come to give the stolen money to God. God is watching and will reward us all according to our works. We can speak evil against our friends to our superiors at work for them to be fired. We hate other tribes but love our tribe mates. We want to buy the latest car in town neglecting our mother at the village. All in the name that, the woman that carried you in her womb and never killed you has suddenly turned an angel of darkness at night. Interestingly, she sent you to hospital when ever you were sick when you were young and never killed you. There is no humility and fear of God among Christians anymore. I mean real humility and not the fake one.

The church can gain it's mandate and be exceptional even more than the early church.

Our mandate is to go about preaching the word of God with our lives, our words, our actions, our giving and our everything. When we have done that, the covets must be baptised symbolising that, they are a new creation.
When we have finished baptising them, we need to continually keep teaching them the true word of God. Without food in the physical realm, no man can grow. In the same way, the spiritual food (the word of God - Bible) must be taught to the covets every day for them to be strong Christians. There are several temptations and trials in the Christian journey but when the Christian is full of God's word, he or she will always stand the test of time.
"The thing you should want most is God's kingdom and doing what God wants. Then all these other things you need will be given to you.
So don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have its own worries. Each day has enough trouble of its own." - Matthew 6:33 - 34.

Also, when we have sort the Kingdom of God and it's righteousness, all other things shall be added unto us. We want to be blessed as Christians, let's live for Christ.
God knows what He is doing and so let's keep trusting Him.
When we have the Kingdom of God at heart, our lives and everything will change.
Our mandate is to do the will of our Father in Heaven. The mandate of every Christian on earth is to win souls and nothing else. Our mandate on earth is to live with heaven in mind.

God be with us as we throw away our old nature and take up our mandate on earth as Christians, Amen.
